My Seasonal Home

Maybe it’s because I trained as a teacher and used to change my classroom to reflect the time of year, but I love adding little touches to show the season we are currently in. Christmas doesn’t have to be the only time we decorate our homes!

It doesn’t need to be much – a summer ornament that reminds us of a special holiday. A garland of leaves to show to colours of autumn. A few twigs of Spring blooms to show us that the winter season is over and that the lighter, warmer days are on their way. All these little touches can help us to stay mindful of where we are in the year and are a fun way to brighten up our homes.

My Seasonal Fashion

I’m not a big expert on fashion, but I get excited about summer dresses. And autumn boots. And winter jumpers. And Spring pastels. So basically, I enjoy the way that our wardrobes can change to reflect the seasons and putting together pieces that reflect the time of year we are currently in.

On this subject i will share what I am loving now, what I think would be good for this season and make up / hair for the current season.

My Seasonal Garden

One of my biggest passions is gardening. We have two allotments which we use to grow our own fruit and vegetables and I love nothing more than nurturing a plant from seed to the dinner table – it’s the most satisfying way to cook. (If you don’t know what an allotment is you can find out more at this link here.

With this topic we will cover growing your own food, how our food journey is going and what we are doing on our allotment, flowers and non food gardens and outdoor decorations.

Enjoying your outdoors spaces throughout the seasons can be really special and so I hope you will find these posts helpful to you.

My Seasonal Celebrations

Here at My Seasonal Joy we like to celebrate the everyday because there is so much to celebrate! Don’t save the fancy plates for a special occasion – make today special enough to use them. Use the good bedding, enjoy that special recipe and put little decorative touches in your home – every day is a gift and we should make the most of each one.

We will also be celebrating the special days throughout the year – New Year, Easter, Summer holidays, Bonfire Night, Christmas and many more – both the obvious and the little known. Any excuse for a party 🙂

My Seasonal Health

Each season brings it’s own unique health issues. From seasonal discomfort in the summer to the usual bugs in the winter months – these can all cause misery. Instead of trying to deal with these when they happen, we like to try and stay as healthy as possible to prevent them from happening in the first place.

One of the main ways we do this is through the use of therapeutic grade aromatherapy oils. I am a Young Living Distributor and am enjoying building my team of like minded people who want to use oils to support their wellbeing. You can find more about joining my team at this link here.

The use of oils to maintain health and to enhance the home, are two of the many oil related topics I will be blogging on here at My Seasonal Joy.

We also use seasonal food with a high nutrition value, and follow the Trim Healthy Mama plan, to stay healthy and you can find out more about that plan at this link here.

For us, eating seasonally is very important and that is why it will be one of the biggest topics we cover here at My Seasonal Joy.

Eating seasonally means reducing the price of the food you eat, the air miles it travels, the time it’s been stored and therefore increases it’s nutritional content and gives you a healthy variety of foods. It’s also a great way to enjoy each season – by looking forward to strawberries in Summer and Pumpkins in Autumn, for example.

This topic will also link with My Seasonal Garden as we learn to grow different seasonal foods to further reduce our food budget and enjoy the satisfaction of growing your own food.

Under this category I will also share THM hints and tips and advice that will help both beginners and long term Trim Healthy Mama’s. I hope you find them useful, please let me know in the comments what hints and tips would be helpful to you and I will try to cover them in a blog post.

Seasonal Frugality

Frugality can be a choice or a necessity. For us, part of our living seasonally is about making the most of the resources we have and so that naturally leads to frugal living.
